Xiaomi Civi 3 vs Xiaomi Civi 2: Is it a Decent Upgrade?
Xiaomi has upgraded its Civi series with a new smartphone with exciting features. So the successor to the Xiaomi Civi 2 launched in September 2022 is the new Xiaomi Civi 3 launched in May 2023.
But do you think Xiaomi Civi 3 has enough features to match the class put forward by Xiaomi Civi 2? Let’s compare the specifications and features of both devices to get a better idea about them:
Xiaomi Civi 2 vs Xiaomi Civi 3: A Specification Comparison
- Launched within a span of about 9 months, Xiaomi Civi 2 and Xiaomi Civi 3 differ slightly in terms of thickness and weight. While Xiaomi Civi 2 measures 7.2mm in size and weighs about 171.8g, Xiaomi Civi 3 measures 7.6mm and shows about 174g on the weighing scale. However, both devices contain Gorilla Glass 5 support, a glass back, and an aluminum frame for sturdiness.
- Talking about the display, both smartphones are almost identical, except for a few specs. Both have the same display size and AMOLED support along with features such as Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and 120Hz display refresh rate. Both have the same display resolution as well. However, while Xiaomi Civi 2 supports 1B colors, 1000nits of peak brightness, and about 89.5% screen-to-body ratio, Xiaomi Civi 3 supports 1500nits of brightness, 91% screen-to-body ratio, and 68B colors.
- The major difference between the devices is their processor support. While Xiaomi Civi 3 contains a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor which is 4nm in size and clocked to a max of 2.4GHz, Xiaomi Civi 3 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8200-Ultra processor which is octa-core in structure and is clocked at 3.1GHz. Also, while Xiaomi Civi 3 has an Arm Mali-G610 MC6 as the GPU and MIUI 14 over Android 13, Xiaomi Civi 2 comes with Adreno 644 as the GPU and MIUI 13 over Android 12.
- Both Xiaomi Civi 2 and Xiaomi Civi 3 exist in a number of RAM and ROM variants but Xiaomi Civi 3 did it much better bringing up to 16GB RAM and 1TB internal storage. Against this, Xiaomi Civi 2 has RAM and ROM support limited to 12GB and 256GB respectively.
- If you look at the camera support, you would see that both these smartphones have a similar 50MP triple rear camera support and even a 32MP selfie camera. However, while Xiaomi Civi 3 contains an 8MP ultrawide camera with a quad-LED flash, Xiaomi Civi 2 has a 20MP ultrawide camera with a dual-LED flash. Also, while the selfie camera in Xiaomi Civi 3 can support 4K video capture and gyro-EIS, the same in Xiaomi Civi 2 lacks this feature.
- The battery support in both Xiaomi Civi 3 and Xiaomi Civi 2 is absolutely the same and both smartphones contain a 4500mAH battery that comes with 67W fast charging support and both these devices contain USB Type-C 2.0 charging support along with USB on the go.
- Both these smartphones have an under-display, optical fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature as well. Even their connectivity specs are similar, except for the fact that Xiaomi Civi 3 supports Bluetooth 5.3 and Xiaomi Civi 2 has support for up to Bluetooth 5.2 only.
These are some of the major differences between Xiaomi Civi 2 and Xiaomi Civi 3 and I think the latest variant with a MediaTek customized chip is definitely a wonderful upgrade. Xiaomi Civi 3 has been launched in China and is about to go global pretty soon. What do you think about this?
