Why Smartphones are a Necessary Evil
How do you define something that is absolutely necessary in life, but has some serious side effects as well? Well, I think the term “Necessary Evil” has been coined for such things and while we used to study friction as the necessary evil in mechanical products, now we can say that smartphones are the necessary evil in the life of people. How?
Here are some points that you can really relate to:
· While every single person has a smartphone these days, it is really easy to check on them and find if they are doing well enough. People do not even need to call each other and just chat on messenger apps about their well-being. However, this smartphone is also a bell around the neck when people do not wish to have it because they do not wish to talk to anyone but have to keep it open to avoid any emergency messages.
· Smartphones have made it easy to send money to anyone across the world and they can receive it within seconds. However, when you do not wish to send (or receive, although receiving money is hardly denied) money, you need to make some excuses and the person in need feels really bad about it. It’s then that you wish that these technologies never existed.
· Smartphones have brought the world closer. No matter where your loved ones stay, you can connect with them in seconds and that too absolutely free of cost via internet. However, these smartphones are the ones who have set the families apart and people in the same room rarely talk to each other.
· Smartphones have brought an entire world in just a small box. You can order any sort of food and also cook dishes from across the world through the recipes present on the internet. However, people would not leave their smartphones even when they are having food and this “me time” or “family time” has turned into “smartphone time”.
· People these days provide smartphones to even their kids because they want their kids to be in touch with them at every moment and call them if they face some issues. This is good from the security point of view. However, when these kids stay 24/7 on their smartphones, it’s then that the parents realize their mistakes.
No doubt, smartphones are a necessary evil, and slowly, the intensity of evilness is increasing. Do you agree?
