The “Amazon Devices Do Not Wipe All Data Even After Factory Reset” Issue

As wonderful and useful as Amazon Echo devices are for the users, they like to remain in the headlines for wrong and right reasons. Some time back, a person put a question on some social media website, asking Mr. Jeff Bezos if something from an Amazon Echo device could be used as a proof to acquit someone who is charged with a murder.

Well, there is no direct answer to this, but while a lot of people have started using Amazon Echo devices powered by MediaTek chipsets, a lot of different questions have arrived as well and many of them are relating the safety of people.

One of these issues is about the data reset of the device where people came to know that Amazon Echo devices do get completely reset even after a factory reset and some of the data is already stored in the device. It was a cause of concern more so because even some passwords remain stored in the device even after it is completely reset.

Well, this could be an issue for sire, but I don’t think this is the fault of Amazon or the device. People may have this issue with their Google Assistant devices as well and I don’t think this is an issue with the Google Assistant device. In fact, it is the fault of the Boss Google and the user of the device.

I think we all are aware of the fact that whenever we login to a website or some application from any of our devices, we get a notification from Google to sane our password on the device. Sometimes, the password does not get saved just on the device but on the logged in Google profile as well. And it would stay active on the device even when you factory reset the device because you reset the device from the application, but the password is stored on your smartphone and on Google.

Besides, nobody comes to know about the password of your Echo device until they have your smartphone in their hands or your Google login details. So in order to keep your Echo devices safe, it is important to keep your Google Workspace credentials safe.

And secondly, it is the fault of the owners of these Echo devices who, for a bit of their convenience, put all their data at risk by making the device remember the password and other login details. You should never do this. In fact, many people even allow the device to remember their Amazon shopping details and even their card details which is really dangerous. Not just with the others, but even your own family members can make a wrong use of the device by ordering the products they like. And when you get your credit card bills, you would have no option but to go mad after looking at all the details of the orders.

I am not trying to defend Amazon or Google or Apple or any other smart device brand that you use, but while you use even a smartphone, your personal security and privacy is really important and you should adhere to the safety concerns that arise right when you place your first command to Alexa or Google Assistant or Siri or Crotona. They are artificially intelligent people who work for someone else and your data is being passed on. So be absolutely careful.
