Some Cool Tricks to Try with Amazon Echo Devices

Do you admit that Amazon Echo Devices are some of the coolest things ever produced on this planet? Well, at least I do. I have been using some Echo devices for quite some time now and I have also been reading a lot about them. In fact, I like to discover new tricks and let people know so that they could make better use of these devices.

Here are some of the newest tricks that I learned about Echo Devices and you can definitely try your hands on these:

Find Out About Traffic:

If you do not want to get stuck for hours in traffic while you are on your way to your job, Amazon devices and Alexa can help you out in the processor. You can get information about the best routes you could take to your work location so that you reach there in time without even getting stuck in traffic.

All you need to do is add your work location in the Alexa app so Alexa can give you the best route advice. Open the Alexa app menu and select

Settings. Then scroll down and tap Traffic and enter the address you’ll be leaving from (like your house) to head to your work address. And when you’re ready to leave the house, just shoot a command saying, “Alexa, what’s my traffic?” and Alexa will give you the fastest route and the estimated time it will take to get to work.

Turn Any speaker into an Echo Device:

This is one of the most interesting things that I learned and I certainly want other people to learn this as well. If you already have a speaker with great sound quality and you wish to convert it into an Echo speaker, you can just use an Echo Input (available at $35 on Amazon) to turn your speaker into an Alexa device.

Doing this gives your current speaker access to Alexa. And when you want to use it with your favorite speaker, just connect it using the auxiliary cord that comes with the device or pair it with the speaker using Bluetooth. And ta-da, you have a smart Echo device without even buying a smart speaker.

Tap Your Command:

This feature is exclusive to Amazon Echo Show devices only and if you have issues getting Alexa to understand your commands, just turn on the Tap to Alexa feature. It enables you to type out a command rather than speaking it, and it lets you easily access shortcuts with one tap on the screen. Isn’t it so cool?

To enable this feature, you need to open the settings on your Echo Show device and select Accessibility. Following this, just scroll down and toggle the Tap to Alexa switch on and tap Continue. In fact, you can move the Tap to the Alexa icon around until you find the best spot on your device.

What I really like about the device is that all these smart devices are powered by Mediatek chipsets that not only make them quite efficient but also keep a check on the cost as well. Did you already know that most of these Amazon Echo products are powered by Mediatek chipsets?

Show the Object:

There are times in life when you are not able to tell the exact name of the object that you want Alexa to search. Well, Google designed Google Lens for such purposes, and with Echo devices, you can easily show them the object and get assistance.

This feature was developed to help blind and visually impaired people identify a specific object. Alexa is capable of naming items using advanced computer vision and machine-learning technologies for object recognition. Well, you might know Artificial intelligence.

To get started, make sure your camera is on and ask, “Alexa, what am I holding?” The voice assistant will then give you instructions on where to hold the item, how close it needs to be to the camera, and when to show different sides of the product.
