The Reno series from Oppo is perhaps the highest-seller in the market and this is why you see about 2 new Reno series every year. While most of these smartphones are launched in China first, they reach other countries pretty soon. Talking about the US market, while Oppo Reno 3 5G smartphone is already doing so well, the newly-launched Oppo Reno 5 pro 5G is making a lot of headlines.

So here I have brought for you a small comparison between these two smartphones to get you a better idea of the one that you need to obtain.

Specification comparison:

Design and Display:

Both Oppo Reno 3 5G and Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G smartphones are extremely good-looking devices. However, Oppo Reno 3G has a 6.44-inch screen with an AMOLED display, 1080p display resolution, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 support in the devices. Against this, Oppo Reno 5 Pro has a 6.55-inch screen with a super AMOLED display and 1080p display resolution. Besides, it also supports a 90Hz display refresh rate and has Corning Gorilla Glass support as well.

Chipset and Performance:

Oppo Reno 3 5G supports MediaTek Dimensity 1000L chipset which was one of the first chipsets launched by the brand. This is octa-core in nature with its 5G properties and is clocked to a max of 2.2GHz. Against this, Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G smartphone supports a MediaTek DImensity 1000+ chipset that is again octa-core in nature and is clocked at a max of 2.6GHz. And as you might already know, the Mediatek Dimensity 1000+ chipset is far more powerful than the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L chipset.

RAM and Storage:

While these are mid-range smartphones, you can expect max RAM and storage within the devices. So while the RAM is concerned, both Oppo Reno 3 5G and Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G support up to 12GB of RAM. However, while Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G could support 256GB of internal storage, Oppo Reno 3 5G supports only up to 128GB internal storage.

Camera Section:

The camera is certainly the forte of the Reno series and people buy these Oppo smartphones mainly to get good camera quality. As far as the camera section is concerned, both the smartphones contain an almost similar camera. Both contain a 64MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP quad-rear camera section with an LED flash and lots of AI enhancements. Besides, both these smartphones contain a 32MP front camera as well. However, make no mistake, the camera section of Oppo Reno 5 Pro is definitely much better and it has got some new features as well.

Battery and Charging Support:

The battery support of the devices also sees a slight difference. While Oppo Reno 3 5G smartphone contains a 4025mAh battery with 30W fast charging support, Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G smartphone contains a 4350mAH battery with 65W fast charging support. And though the battery support seems to be a lot different, you would find that the battery backup of Reno 5 Pro 5G is only slightly better.

Security Features:

Both the smartphones contain an under-display, optical fingerprint scanner and they look good enough for the kind of security you want in your smartphone. They also contain a powerful Face Unlock feature to help your needs.

Price:

Till now, you have been observing how Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G smartphone took a lead in almost every aspect. However, it is because you need to spend a bit more on it. As far as the costs are concerned, while Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G would cost you about $594, Oppo Reno 3 5G would take about $419 out of your pockets for the same amount of RAM and ROM (12GB/128GB).

So even when Oppo Reno 5 Pro is the new sensation in the town, I think Oppo Reno 3 5G has still maintained its popularity and is a good option to be bought. What do you think?
