A lot of people these days are comparing the new Motorola Edge 2022 smartphone with the Google Pixel 6a launched some time back. And I thought if there’s some smoke, there has to be a fire within. So, I thought about discovering this fire and bringing it to your benefit.

Which device do you think is better, a Google Pixel 6a or Motorola Edge 2022? Well, comparing the two brands might appear a bit unfair but when you have two different devices with almost similar features and a world of difference in their costs, you need to bring the truth in front of people.

So here I have compared the features of the new Google Pixel 6a and Motorola Edge 2022 to help you know the better option. Let’s dive in to know the best:

Google Pixel 6a vs Motorola Edge 2022:

Hardware and Design:

Both Google Pixel 6a and Motorola Edge 2022 contain a wonderful design and have a pleasing appearance. However, the Google Pixel 6a is 8.9mm in size and weighs about 178g. It has a Glass front and an aluminum frame with a plastic back. Besides, it is IP67 dust and water-resistant and can stay up to 30 minutes in 1m water.

Against this, Motorola Edge 2022 is 8mm in size and weighs about 170g. It has a glass front and plastic frame with a plastic back and it comes with a water-repellent design.

Display:

Talking about the display features of Google Pixel 6a, you get a 6.1-inch OLED display with HDR feature and it arrives with an 83 percent screen-to-body ratio. It also has a 1080p display resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 2ith an always-on display feature.

Against this, Motorola Edge 2022 contains a 6.6-inch display with OLED support, 144Hz display refresh rate, and HDR10+ feature. It also contains an 88.1 percent screen-to-body ratio and 1080p display resolution. And viewing all the features of both these devices, I think the features are pretty balanced in both.

Performance:

Google Pixel 6a is powered by a Google Tensor processor which is 5nm in size and octa-core in structure and is clocked at 2.8GHz. It also contains Arm Mali-G78 MP20 as the GPU and contains Stock Android 12, which can be upgraded to Android 13.

Against this, Motorola Edge 2022 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1050 chip which is 6nm in size and octa-core in structure with a clock speed of 2.5GHz. It also contains an Arm Mali-G610 MC3 as the GPU and this too contains Stock Android 12, upgradable to Android 13. In my view, the MediaTek processor in the Moto smartphone has much better features and performance, and even better connectivity.

RAM and ROM:

Both devices occur in just a single variant of RAM and ROM and do not contain a memory card slot. Google Pixel 6a comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and Motorola Edge 2022 contains 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. So you can say that the Moto smartphone has the edge here as well.

Camera Support:

Talking about the camera section, the Google Pixel 6a contains a 12.2MP + 12MP dual rear camera support with a dual LED flash, Pixel Shift, and Auto HDR features. It can record 4K videos as well and comes with an 8MP front camera for your selfies and video calls. Even the selfie camera has an auto-HDR feature.

Against this, Motorola Edge 2022 contains a 50MP + 13MP + 2MP triple rear camera support with an LED flash and HDR features, and even it can record 4K videos. It comes with a whopping 32MP selfie camera with an HDR feature to assist your selfies. And I think the Moto Edge device has an edge here as well because the quality of Google Pixel cameras is not so good in real life.

Battery:

The battery support is also good in both these devices. You get a powerful 4410mAh battery with 18W fast charging support and USB Power Delivery 3.0 with a Google Pixel 6a smartphone. Against this, you get a 5000mAH battery with 30W fast charging in the new Motorola Edge 2022 device. Besides, it comes with 15W fast charging support and 5W reverse charging feature as well. So even in this case, the Motorola device takes a lead.

Security and Other Features:

Both these devices contain features such as a Fingerprint sensor (under display, optical), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, etc. However, the Google device contains USB Type-C 3.1 support while the Moto smartphone comes with USB Type-C 2.0 support and USB on-the-go features. And you might think that the Google device has a slight edge in this aspect.

And now when we saw the features, we should also look at the cost of these devices. The single variant of Google Pixel 6a will cost you about $404, while the Motorola Edge 2022 will cost you about $499.

So which one of these smartphones do you think is a better option for you?
