MediaTek flagship smartphone chips are up and about in the market. While you already witnessed some amazing smartphones with these chips in 2022, the year 2023 is about to be yet more exciting. Talking about the flagship chips, MediaTek has the trio of MediaTek Dimensity 9000, MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus, and the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9200.

Here, let us compare the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus and MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chips which are actually considered quite powerful for flagship buyers. I have got you a bunch of features for these chips to help you get a better idea about the changes in the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chip that make it a grade better:

MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus vs MediaTek Dimensity 9200: Feature Comparison

AnTuTu Scores:

Let us start by comparing the AnTuTu scores of the platforms first. While both these chips performed really well on the benchmark scores, MediaTek Dimensity 9200 scored over 1.26 million points on the AnTuTu 9 benchmark while MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus has a score close to 1.14 million.

And as you can already see, MediaTek Dimensity 9200 performs better in this aspect. To be exact, MediaTek Dimensity 9200 performed almost 11% better than MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus and this is something that people could keep in their mind while buying smartphones any of the chips.

GeekBench 5:

Geekbench 5 is also an important benchmark comparison and while MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus did about 3 percent better in terms of single-core score, MediaTek Dimensity 9200 did about 15 percent better than MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus in terms of multi-core score. So you might already guess the chip that did better here.

CPU Specifications:

Now CPU is one of the deciding factors and holds huge importance. While both MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus and MediaTek Dimensity 9200 have an octa-core CPU with a 4nm chipset size, there is a difference in the kind of CPU cores they contain.

MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus is made up of 1 x Cortex X2 core that is clocked at 3.2GHz, 3 x Cortex-A710 cores that are clocked at 2.85GHz, and 4 x Cortex-A510 cores that are clocked at 1.8GHz. Against this, MediaTek Dimensity 9200 is made up of 1 x Cortex-X3 core that is clocked at 3.05GHz, 3 x Cortex-A715 core that is clocked at 2.85GHz, and 4 x Cortex-510 cores that are clocked at 1.8GHz.

So if you noticed, the max CPU clock speed in MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus is slightly better, but MediaTek Dimensity 9200 has the latest and the more sophisticated CPU cores which makes it a better option.

GPU Specifications:

Both MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus and MediaTek Dimensity 9200 have powerful GPU support, but MediaTek Dimensity 9200 is slightly better in terms of its GPU. This latest Mediatek chip comes with an Arm Mali-G715 Immortalis MC11 as its GPU with 11 execution units. Against this, MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus contains an Arm Mali-G710 MC10 as the GPU and it contains 10 execution units.

No wonder, MediaTek Dimensity 9200 again did better in this aspect.

Memory Specifications:

Both these smartphone chips come with an LPDDR5X-type memory and can support up to 24GB of internal memory as well. However, while MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus can support up to 3750MHz memory frequency, MediaTek Dimensity 9200 comes with 8533MHz memory frequency which is more than double the former platform.

Multimedia Specifications:

The multimedia specifications of both these devices are quite similar and both of them can support a similar kind of camera as well. However, MediaTek Dimensity 9200 can support 8K video capture and playback at 30 frames per second, while MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus can support up to 4K video captures and playback at up to 30 frames per second.

Connectivity Features:

While connectivity features in both the Mediatek chips are quite similar, an important change in the new MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chip is the support for Wi-Fi 7. MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus can support only up to Wi-Fi 6.

These are some of the major differences between MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus and MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chips that are about to make a statement in the flagship segment in 2023 and beyond. Which one of these chips do you think will power the maximum number of devices?
