As the competition between smartphone chipsets continues, the world is even seeing internal competition between two chipsets from the same brand. If you remember, MediaTek Dimensity 820 chipset was launched almost 1 and a half years back, and still, there are hardly any smartphones with it in the market. Against this, MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset that has just been launched is already quite popular in the market.

What do you think is different between these chipsets from the same brand? Do you think MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset is better in power despite sounding low in terms of its nomenclature? Let us find this out:

MediaTek Dimensity 810 vs MediaTek Dimensity 820:

CPU Structure and Size:

Both MediaTek Dimensity 810 and Dimensity 820 chipsets have an octa-core CPU structure and even the types of cores used in both the chipsets are similar. However, there are some major differences in terms of CPU and you should know this. First of all, talking about the chipset size, MediaTek Dimensity 820 chipset is 7nm in size while the new MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset is 6nm in size and you already know that small chipsets have an advantage. And this is why MediaTek Dimensity 810 turns out better in this aspect.

However, when you look at the CPU clock speed, you find that MediaTek Dimensity 820 has CPU cores clocked at 4 x 2.6GHz & 4 x 2GHz, while MediaTek Dimensity 810 has CPU cores clocked at 4 x 2.4 & 4 x 2GHz. So the max and the overall CPU clock speed of MediaTek Dimensity 820 is much better than its younger brother.

GPU Specs:

While MediaTek Dimensity 820 chipset has ARM Mali-G57 MC2 as its GPU, MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset has ARM Mali-G57 MC5 as the GPU and it is clearly visible that the GPU section in MediaTek Dimensity 810 is much improved. Not just this, MediaTek Dimensity 810 also has much better GPU frequency. While the GPU in MediaTek Dimensity 810 is clocked at 850MHz, the same in MediaTek Dimensity 820 is clocked at just 670MHz and there is a difference of about 200MHz.

Memory Specifications:

The RAM and Memory specifications in both the chipsets are absolutely similar. Both MediaTek Dimensity 810 and MediaTek Dimensity 820 can support up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM with a max frequency of 2133MHz and the other RAM features are also similar.

Multimedia Specifications:

The multimedia specifications again a quite similar in both the devices but there is one difference between the two of them. While MediaTek Dimensity 820 can support up to 80MP single camera and 32MP dual camera setup in the devices, MediaTek Dimensity 810 can support only up to 64MP single camera and up to 16MP dual camera setup. This is something that helps MediaTek Dimensity 820 chipset take the lead.

Besides these, almost all the other major features between the two chipsets are similar. And if you have been presuming that MediaTek Dimensity 810 is much better because of its low size of latest launch, let me tell you that as the name indicates, MediaTek Dimensity 820 is slightly better.

You may think otherwise because of its spec preferences but when you see the performance of the devices, you would feel the difference.
