Do not consider it an exaggeration but my family talks more to Alexa than they do to each other. In the present world, getting an Amazon Echo device is such an easy business and you just need to spend a few bucks to get the best device home. Thanks to the Mediatek chipset in all these devices, connecting them to each other and to whatever smart device you want is so easy.

However, what these smartest-smart, gift of Artificial Intelligence, Echo devices have done is that they have lessened the communication between the family members and now each of the member would talk to Alexa more than they talk to each other. And this is not the story of a single home, but across the world, wherever these smart devices have set their round physical self.

And do you think this is affecting people and their relations? Well, at first, it doesn’t seem as if Alexa is the major cause of separated ways between family members in the same living space or room, because each of them now has a smartphone in their hand.

Long before these smart Echo devices entered the market, the smartphones with internet were really ruling the minds of the people and 3 people sitting on the same sofa would not talk to each other because they had smartphones in hand (unless, of course they need something to discuss from the other person).

So instead of blaming just Alexa, I would blame it on technology because as easy as it has made the lives of people, the gap between people in the same family is widening and in the process of connecting with people across the globe, the word “family” is losing its worth.

Technology should not get the best of you and should not enslave you and your family members to an extent that you are satisfied all alone in the world.
