Do you believe that personal threats and attacks have increased on people after social media took over the world? Well, the thing which was meant to be operated during the free hours is now taking a majority of time in a human being’s day and this is not at all good. But nothing could be worse than the fact that people make accounts of their pets as well on such platforms.

Though this is none of our concerns, it would surely affect you when you get tracked and attacked with the help of social media.

So here are some important tips to ensure that you stay safe on social media:

  • Never, ever post any personal information on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Also, limit the amount of personal information on LinkedIn because you could be targeted using your LinkedIn account as well.
  • If your profile has many personal photos which you think could be used wrongly by other people, keep your profile locked on Facebook. Also, avoid posting personal pictures on Twitter and be very careful about the pictures you upload on Instagram.
  • No matter how much you consider it private, every chat and every piece of information on social media is under the surveillance of the platform moderators. This information getting leaked is not that very difficult.
  • Avoid posting photos of your children on social media and if it is too important to show the world that you celebrated your child’s birthday, keep the privacy settings only for your friends. Also, it is really important to avoid posting about where you are traveling. This could always be used against you.
  • Things are getting so wicked these days that it is important not to add any unknown person to your friend list, even if they are friends with multiple friends of yours.

Last but not the least, lessen the use of these social media platforms beyond your personal entertainment. The more you see other people posting personal information, the more you are interested in posting yours too. So to have a lesser impact of social media, it is important to use it less.
