How Long Will a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 Chipset Last?

Have you kept a count of how many smartphones in the world have used the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset? Well, among the most popular ones, there are 5 of them that went official and among them, 2 are from Realme and one each from Xiaomi, Oppo, and OnePlus. While a lot of them are proposed to launch in some time, it’s interesting how people have already opted for this chipset in their smartphones and are quite happy with it.

And what is more interesting is that Mediatek chipsets are being used by brands that have never used them in the past, If you already guessed, I am talking about OnePlus that used the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 for the first time in its history, and even though it should have been a very popular device, the popularity got marred amidst the huge competition from all the devices that had the same Mediatek chipset. Now, this smartphone is one of the most popular smartphones in the mid-range category and even though there is a lot of competition, it has proven its mettle well enough.

Coming to our question, how far do you think these smartphones with MediaTek Dimensity 1200 can go? Do you think they would be as good as they are now in the second quarter of the year 2023? Well, this is a sort of question that you would have in mind when you spend a substantial sum of money on a smartphone. This is a 6nm chipset from MediaTek while many 5nm chipsets too are available in the market, (not from MediaTek, though) and with the news of MediaTek 4nm chipsets launching in the last quarter of 2021, do you think these 6nm chipsets would go far enough?

This is something to think about before you buy a smartphone with these chipsets. However, I think MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipsets would have a good run in the market for at least 5 years from now because while this is still relatively a new technology in the smartphone market, many countries in the world are not expected to have 5G services for another 5 years now.

In this case, getting 5G chipsets is one thing and getting a 5G network is something different. And when these countries get the 5G network, there would certainly be newer chipsets lesser in size, but there would also be chipsets like MediaTek Dimensity 1200 which would turn lesser in costs. So having MediaTek Dimensity 1200 would not be a bane even 2 years from now and the advantage of that new technology on the present one would be that the newer one would make the present technology more affordable.

And this is the major reason why something like MediaTek Dimensity 1200 would work for quite some time. Remember when we first had this Mediatek Helio P22 octa-core 4G processor and most brands were crazily delivering smartphones with this chipset. Well, the chipset is not that old now, but the priorities have changed. And when we get something at an appropriate cost considering all the features of the same, it would not be a bad option by any means.
